I do not like my thumb.

And I’ll tell you why.

Whenever I write exams I tend to grip my pen like it is a life preserver and I’m in the middle of the Pacific Ocear (in some ways that is metaphorically true).

Halfway through the exam my thumb starts to go numb. Then follow the rest of my hand and arm.

If my thumb is numb, I can’t write quickly.

If I can’t write quickly, I can’t spew out all the knowledge on Trust law on to my paper.

If I can’t do that, I can’t answer the question.

If I can’t answer the question, the professor won’t know that I know what I know.

If the prof doesn’t know I know what I know the he can’t give me marks.

If he can’t give me marks, I can’t pass my exam.

If I can’t pass my exam I will have to hurt someone.

If I hurt someone then I’LL need a lawyer, but since I’m a poor student, I won’t be able to get one. Then life is over.

All because of my thumb.

Thus, in closing, I do not like my thumb.

(I’d like to tell you how long it’s been since I’ve slept properly, but from the above I don’t think it will be that hard to figure out…)

  1. Well…….maybe you can defend yourself? :)

  2. My thumb is my friend. I’m sorry yours if giving you such troubles.

  3. Not to worry, you can always get a new thumb! I hear they’re the latest Must Have for Christmas, you should check the mall!

  4. Aww I remember writing long essay exams and having the same thumb numbness. I hated those pens with the cushioning on them so my solution was bandage my thumb. Bandaids come in really pretty colours now and I used to wear my Little Mermaid bandaids to have something nice to look at when stuck on a question. Maybe this will help?

  5. They say the thumb is what made us rule over other moneys and evolution and all that stuff!!!

I never get a thumb pain though – its more CTS.

  6. I think this could be from local compression to the nerve too…maybe a CTS but it does not involve the arm. I am not a neurlogist yet (I ask Allah to be) to tell you a diagnosis
but you know maybe your wrist is compressed during the writing position of the hand…if you do pressure upon the inner aspect of the wrist joint try to avoid this and this may explain the arm..partially

  7. maybe you should fight your case and be allowed to give oral exams?
